Gwelfor, Newport

It is a lovely house, very well stocked with crockery, cutlery and glassware.

Lovely rooms and plenty of space with a large garden and just a few moments from the high street so a great location.

It was great to be back in Newport once again and for our third stay at Gwelfor.

There is plenty of room for our large family party. It was a shame to have a dirty hob to clean up on arrival but thanks for offering to send a cleaner round. In general the outdoor space needs a good sweep and tidy and the barbecue had been left dirty by previous visitors. It is such a lovely house but we felt it needs a bit more love and attention between lets - it has got a bit faded in the last few years. There was also a bat in the sitting room but we soon got it out! The extractor fan in the master bedroom needs fixing. Great position for a house and we loved staying here.

This property is beautiful, with so much space, well decorated, super clean and well presented. We are already looking at booking up again!

A beautiful house with excellent facilities.

This property is very dirty.

It was not cleaned properly after the previous guests and cannot have been cleaned properly in years. Whilst the house is well equipped and the fixtures and fittings are of a high standard, no effort has been put into maintaining them. There was glass on the floor, dirty pans in cupboards, drawing pins on floors, crumbs on tables, gunk and grime in all of the bathrooms, an overwhelming smell of urine and a think layer of dust over every single surface- just to name a few! The house needs some serious TLC

Lovely cottage in a great location.

Easy access to beaches and walks. Great local butcher. Excellent six burner BBQ. Plenty of room to spread out and a lovely dining table to meet up at night.

The house is fantastic and perfect for getting all the family together.

We were there for my 70 th. When we arrived, the keypad wasn’t working, but was fixed the next day. The house wasn’t clean though, very dusty and the floors were dirty with thick dust under the table and furniture. We swept as there was no hoover as the little ones were getting very dirty. There were dirty pans in the drawers that had obviously been put away and not washed. My 9 year old granddaughter found a used sanitary towel in the drawer in the bunk bedroom, which was disgusting. We all loved the house but the cleanliness really let it down. I left feedback in the book and left it open on the table, I hope it was read and actioned. We did enjoy our stay in this lovely property, just a shame the cleaners did not do a thorough job.

This was our second stay in Gwelfor and the sun shone every day this time!

We love the house, location and the village of Newport. As it was sunny, everyday was a beach day, so there is still lots for us to explore and we hope to be back. Thank you.

We had an excellent family weekend in Gwelfor.

Lovely house in a perfect location. Very well equipped with high quality fixtures and fittings. The only issue we had was that the recycling was already overflowing when we arrived. We would definitely recommend this house for a large group. Thankyou

The shower room is a bit smelly (mainly of wee) could do with a deep clean

Gwelfor provided plenty of space and en-suite privacy for multiple people, clean, very comfortable and in a great location to stroll into Newport or walks along the Parrog.

It was perfect for an extended-family holiday. The only problem was the back gate lock wouldn’t turn, meaning we couldn’t access the house on the first day without climbing over the back gate (lucky my 70 year old hub still feels like an athlete

Lovely and Homely property, good location,we did have trouble getting through the gate when we arrived and the raised man hole on the drive could do with sorting,but we had a really good family time and that was the whole point of our stay.

We had a lovely stay here the house was big with plenty of space.

The house was equipped with everything you needed and was very clean. There was lots of beautiful walks from the house. The views from the front of the house was amazing. We would stay here again and recommend it .

We had a lovely holiday at Gwelfor.

The weather was atrocious so the house was perfect to escape wind and rain, being comfortable, cosy yet spacious and very well equipped for our party of 6 adults and 3 children.

The property was comfortable, warm and really well placed to explore Newport.

The kitchen was really well equipped for our large group at Christmas. The sofa area in the kitchen part was a little bit of a squeeze for 10 of us but then it was good to have the separate sitting room which again, was a bit of a squeeze but we made it work. Fantastic walks in the area and Newport is really charming.

The only thing that is stopping me from giving 5 stars in all areas is the recycling.

We didn't have red and blue bag to recycle cardboard and plastic so we took our recycling home. I think there should be bags available so others can recycle at this property otherwise there is a lot going to landfill unnecessarily. Great property in a beautiful place. My mum may be making a booking for March 2024

There should be better instructions over the outside lighting as there is only a very small label on the switch near the front door, which we never used as the key safe is near the back door.

Due to the outside lights not being on,one of our party fell on a very uneven patch of tarmac and sprained / possibly fractured his ankle, leaving him in an ankle brace for the last two days of our holiday. A simple note in the information pack would have informed us about the outside light switch but the ridge of tarmac and dip next to it needs fixing. Otherwise a lovely house.

Fantastic, beautiful, comfortable and well equipped property to stay for a week!

Great views across to Newport sands. Lovely touch from the joint owner to email with further information regarding our stay. Only minor fault we found were the keys to get through the back gate and into the kitchen were extremely fiddly to open. However would recommend Gwelfor to anyone and would definitely come back.

Lovely house, good facilities, enjoyed being able to sit out front and back.

Excellent BBQ. Well situated, easy access to both sea and village. Let down by standard of cleanliness. We had to wash some cutlery and plates before using and several pots and pans had been left greasy. Side tables not dusted in all the rooms and several cobwebs dangling. Bathrooms would benefit from hooks to hang dressing gowns, towels etc. We also reported leaks from a toilet and toilet seat not properly fixed. No feedback until we asked whether anything would be done and was informed that a plumber had been twice before and not found anything. Obviously a known problem that needs to be dealt with. Driveway needs a top surface due to raised “ironwork” which made it slightly awkward with three cars.

Christmas 23rd - 28th Dec.

It was by far one off our best family Christmas together, the house was perfect for our family off 15... 9 adults, 5 children & 1 baby. We could walk to the beach in 10 mins, also lovely friendly pubs with 5 mins walk... I think we visited them all over the 5 days. Loved pembrokshire, we will return one day to make more special memories. Gwelfor cottage has everything you would need for a family holiday.

Only little thing that I felt was unnecessary was the request to strip the beds.

Comfortable, stylish house.

Extremely suitable for multi age family group.

Loverly house, two minute walk into the town and an ideal base for coastal walks.

Plenty of room and good amenities, perhaps could add a coffee machine and possibly a welcome pack, however there is a Spar shop in town and a market once a week with excellent stalls. Good choice locally of pubs and restaurants, we ate out most nights and didn’t have a bad meal.

Beautiful house in lovely area, walk on craggy moors in the morning, calm quiet beaches in the afternoon.

We will certainly be returning.

Excellent property in a great coastal location.

Splendid garden and patio if the weather is fine and lots of room for dining and socialising indoors. Newport has pubs that serve very good food and shops that are sufficient to resupply without driving to bigger towns. Would thoroughly recommend!

‘Gwelfor’ is excellent in every way.

Incredibly comfortable and practical for the family. Situated just a few minutes from the main town, restaurants and bars with the sea a 5 min walk away, it’s a joy !

We have all loved our holiday at Gwelfor.

We are a big family group and found plenty of space in your lovely house. It was clean and comfortable and we quickly made it our home! Only regret is that we didnt book for 2 weeks.

Quite simply the best Cottage we have stayed in.

Beautiful spacious house, we had 10 adults and one 6 yr old in our party.

Never feels crowded, so much room. Lovely decor all round. Everything you need in the kitchen. The sea views are amazing!. Some slight niggles, main one being wobbly dining chairs. Have left message about this and a couple of small things. Recycling was a bit of a nightmare. What goes where..... Excellent location, walk to the beach and local shops. These appear to open on Wednesday onwards. Maybe a seasonal thing. Lovely little shops with everything from organic food store to antiques! Worth a short walk. Good food served in the local pubs. Very friendly people around here. You will love it here. This is the first rental we have had that didn't leave a welcome pack. We had a very long drive, and had to wait for food shop delivery for milk and tea etc. Just a small thing that makes a difference. Overall, a fantastic place to stay! Thank you!

Lovely accommodation and comfortable for the whole family.

Really enjoyed our stay. Despite us following every guideline, the recycle waste was not picked up on Tuesday morning. It was placed correctly and properly categorised. According to a neighbour I spoke to, this has been a problem for the property. I reported this to the local letting office in town, who also gave me some bags to put the bed linen in before departure, as we could only find one. A lovely stay and would definitely recommend the property to others

The location excellent too, as within walking distance of the village and beach. We all thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in Pembrokeshire.

Everything within the house is of the highest quality, from the kitchen appliances to the original artwork on the walls. It is spacious, light and perfectly located within the lovely village of Newport. It was a complete treat to spend a week there and we’d love to return.
