“We booked this place for the view, and the view definitely delivered.”

We enjoyed using the balcony when the weather allowed and the sofas upstairs are very comfy to relax and enjoy the views through the floor to ceiling windows on rainy days. It’s a very spacious place to stay. Downstairs is a different story unfortunately. The showers flood the en-suite and the main bathroom and the rooms smell damp and mouldy. The dehumidifiers in the rooms don’t solve that problem. There was no heating working in the house at all on Sunday and we were really cold. Coast ...

Coast and country were very helpful on the Monday and sent an engineer out so we had heating upstairs. But the underfloor heating never worked at all, apart from the utility room! The cleaner came on Tuesday and gave us 2 heaters so we could take the chill off the bedrooms a bit but they always felt cold and the damp smell in the main bedroom didn’t go. The main sitting room with the only TV in it was too cold to sit in the evenings all week. To the next occupiers, bring slippers and warm socks! The tile floors throughout downstairs are cold, especially at night. Downstairs wasn’t particularly clean either, silverfish in the bathrooms and dead spiders and dust balls in the corners of rooms. We can see from previous reviews that the showers and cleanliness have been an issue for awhile. It’s a shame that that’s not been addressed but it doesn’t seem to hurt the bookings, so…. This was also the first time ever that we’ve not had any welcome package- not even a packet of biscuits or pint of milk. Generally the place felt a bit neglected and sad- such a shame, especially for the price. Doubt we’ll be back.

We are sorry to hear about the issues you experienced with the heating during your stay. This was due to a technical fault with one of the thermostats. As soon as the problem was reported, Coast & Country arranged for an engineer to attend the property promptly, and additional heaters were delivered shortly afterwards to help keep the bedrooms comfortable. Whilst technical issues can occasionally arise, we fully appreciate how frustrating this must have been and apologise that the heating did not perform as it should throughout your visit. We were, however, surprised by your comments regarding the cleanliness of the property. While there were some historic issues with a previous cleaner, our current cleaning team have been in place since the start of 2025 and look after a number of Sykes properties in the area to a high standard. Since their appointment, we have not received any concerns regarding cleanliness. In addition, the property had undergone a deep clean just a few weeks prior to your arrival. For this reason, we were disappointed that these concerns were not raised with our office or mentioned to the cleaners when they visited to deliver the additional heaters, as this would have allowed us the opportunity to investigate and address any issues during your stay. Following receipt of your feedback, we visited the property and, although this was after it had been cleaned post‑departure, we found it to be very clean and in a perfectly normal condition. We are always keen for our guests to have an enjoyable and comfortable stay, and it is genuinely disappointing to hear when this has not been the case. We do hope that you may consider staying with us again in the future. Property Owner
