“The cottage has a lot of potential, the location is lovely, however the place had not been cleaned before we got there and if it had they’d done a terrible job of it, I spent an hour, dusting, sweeping and hoovering before we could unpack and even then that was just a quick clean up.”

The bed sheets were stained, I’m unsure if they’d even been washed, I found other ones inside the devan bed, washed them and put them on then washed the ones that were already on. The cutlery draw was full of crumbs, the cupboards were all sticky, outside hadn’t seen a good sweep in god knows how long and the BBQ was full of cigarette ends, the place was full of flys and wasps but nothing to combat them with so if you plan to stay there take spray and fly swatters. It’s a shame as it dosent take much to keep it clean. A couple of hours before your next quests arrive is all it takes, a good wipe over, inside cupboards put the washing machine and dish washer on a clean cycle and sweep up outside, fresh bed sheets should smell fresh not musty. Having dogs is no excuse either, and maybe have someone come clean the windows once a month at least, considering what we paid for one week employing good housekeeping is a must, also the rubbish removal situation is ridiculous, quests having to take there own rubbish with them is a cheek, the owners should be paying for it to be removed in the same way the YHA does. People are paying a pretty penny to stay so the owners need to do there bit as well.
