“Having read other reviews before I arrived I thought they were a little harsh regarding cleanliness etc.”

On arrival the property looked somewhat overgrown but was as we saw in the booking system , at the back though it is completely unkempt with an inaccessible washing line up overgrown steps. The bins were completely full with discarded bedding and the recycling bins full of garden waste, leaving us only the red bag. There was no mention of when bin collection was. We mentioned this to the cleaners who turned up the day before our departure in error, they informed us that someone should be calling to sort this. In general the owners clearly want the guests to enjoy the property, which is in a very accessible area for the village, though the steep hill might not be suitable for some. As others have commented the house does need a deep clean, a fair amount of TLC and the furnishings both soft and hard might be updated. The kitchen lacks general equipment , there are 11 pint glasses but no small ones, 25 dinner plates but lack of other dishes, there is no cupboard for food to be stored and the oven hasn’t been properly cleaned in a long time and there was no cleaning materials or cloths for guests to maintain the house whilst staying there, neither were there any black disposal bags for rubbish. The wooden floor strip between the hall and kitchen is seriously in need of repair, however the owners have previously said it had been done, when in fact they have just covered it with a mat which is grossly inadequate. With a little updating/cleaning and general maintenance this property could get a higher star rating and more visitors. I am sorry to bring theses points to your attention , however I have owned and managed my own holiday let and am very aware of the guest needs and expectations.

thank you for your feedback. I can sorry the bins were full , I had no idea, we are trying to sort this asap as bedding shouldn't be in these. due to illness, I have been in hospital I haven't been able to get to check and expect the cleaners to do a good job as when we go it is always clean. I have asked for a cleaning the strip is brong mended, this week, we've had problems getting someone. the garden is as advertised and the steps are part of the character, however they are steep and we use it for the washing as the patio is clear for the table and chairs all on 1 level. the garden does get a little overgrown and we will be doing it as the hydragas do grow fast over the summer whilst full. its as advertised on the photos and I take a lot of care, the garden doesn't effect sitting on the patio area and is beautiful of problems arise amd we are contacted we can act on this. I'm sorry the cleaners came a day early, I will find out what happened. I will be there soon for maintenance but there is lots of utensils that take a lot of cupboard space. with a variety of different size glasses, bowls and plates. we leave clothes and sprays etc so I csm only assume someone has removed these.
