“This cottage had everything we needed.”

It was spotless and clearly a home from home. Everything in this property is of a high specification and good quality from the fixtures/fittings and furnishings down to the cutlery. Sharp knives were a bonus! The King size bed was really comfortable, the upstairs bathroom was a treat to relax in and the downstairs bathroom of an equally high standard. The welcome pack was excellent and the wine and dog treats were much appreciated. The enclosed garden was ideal for my dog and there was a woodland walk at the top of the road as well as many footpaths and bridleways in the area. There are also some lovely beaches that dogs are welcome to have a run on. Lucy and Bob, (the owners) were extremely attentive, receptive and excellent communicators. Many thanks for the use of your beautiful Cottage. Kind Regards Hannah

The property

Cardigan 10 miles. A most delightful detached Pembrokeshire cottage, full of charm and character. Set in the idyllic hamlet of Star, ten miles from Cardigan, this cottage has wonderful countryside all around, and a pretty stream running past and under the bridge across the road. The spacious sitting room of this cottage has two delightful sitting areas separated by the stairs, one set around the inglenook fireplace with warming woodburner and the other with French doors overlooking the garden. An open archway leads to a very well-equipped kitchen with a stable door to let in the sunshine. The stairs in the middle of the sitting room lead you directly into a charming mezzanine king-size bedroom with open beams, lovely floorboards, a slate windowsill, TV, and use of a screen for privacy if required. The further two bedrooms in this cottage are equally charming. The delightful enclosed garden runs along both sides of the cottage.

There is a low wall and fence at the side so that you can enjoy the sight and sound of the small stream running alongside. For a peaceful, relaxing holiday you will find no better place but you are also based in the perfect location to enjoy the nearby market town of Newcastle Emlyn, the coastal town of Cardigan, the fabulous coastline, sandy beaches, farm parks and, for those wanting a bit of excitement, Oakwood Theme Park, which is 22 miles away. Take wonderful countryside walks or cycle rides from the doorstep knowing that at the end of your day you will be returning to this most delightful Pembrokeshire cottage.

About the location

CARDIGAN

Aberaeron 17 miles; Fishguard 22 miles; Carmarthen 30 miles; Tenby 33 miles; Aberystwyth 35 miles.

The bustling market town of Cardigan in Ceredigion is set on the River Teifi and offers an array of shops, both unique local producers and larger chain stores, as well as tea rooms, pubs, restaurants and an impressive ruined castle, which is the home to the Eisteddfod. Cardigan castle has a fascinating history and has undergone substantial investment over the years. It is home to regular events throughout the year, along with a café and restaurant which has been strategically positioned with a view over the castle and River Teifi. Surrounding Cardigan is beautiful countryside, with long, dramatic cliff walks around the Cardiganshire coastline, whilst the rugged Pembrokeshire coastline is just a few miles away. You have the opportunity to visit the Cardigan Island Farm Park, wonderful Blue Flag sandy beaches like the National Trust beach Mwnt, take a boat trip to spot dolphins and seals, or horse riding at the friendly Dyfed Riding Centre. For keen cyclists take a trip on the National Cycle Route, Number 82. The nearby Preseli Mountains offer wonderful walking and cycling, with some stunning views and an ancient stone monument. Within driving distance is the town of Carmarthen, Dylan Thomas' Boat House in Laugharne, Oakwood Theme Park, Blue Lagoon indoor waterpark, Folly Farm Zoo and the Welsh Wildlife Centre at Cilgerran, as well as an array of castles, mills and craft centres. Cardigan is an excellent base for exploring this part of Wales.
