“The holiday accommodation experience at Pendre Barn was marred by several issues.”

Upon arrival, we were informed of ongoing decking work, with workmen present on Monday and Friday, though fortunately, we were out those days. The ground floor felt damp and musty, later explained by the host as due to a prior flood, with dehumidifiers, new carpets, and furniture installed to address it. On Wednesday evening, Wales Water arrived with heavy equipment to dig a trench overnight, which was disruptive, especially with a four-month-old baby in the group. After complaints, the work was postponed to the next morning, and the trench was dug and fenced off, with no further disturbances from the workers that week. The garden steps were steep, uneven, and slippery, causing the our son to fall. The cottage’s location within a farmyard wasn’t mentioned on the website. On a positive note, the welcome pack, including tea, coffee, biscuits, milk, dishwashing tablets, and towels, was appreciated. The owner did explain this was still a work in progress which was nearly completed. We wouldn't have booked if we had known about all of this.
