    “Broken furniture, my partner sat on a chair and it nearly gave way.”

    Kitchen looks tired and a little dirty, definitely needs some TLC. Very firm mattress in the room we used, couldn't use the other room due to the sonic mole repellent being used outside. One of the properties was being used as a long term let so we had children running around and cycling outside the property near our car.

    Dear Paul, Firstly, I want to say thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We will absolutely take this on board and use it to improve the experience of future guests and I am sorry that certain aspects of your stay were not up to the standard we aim to meet. In relation to the specific items raised, I have asked the management team to identify which chair you were referring to and ensure this is replaced. I have also asked the gardener to look at the noise from the mole repeller, as I was not aware these could be audible from the house. On the mattress issue, some of our guests prefer a firm mattress, which is why different rooms have different types, but of course I appreciate in your case you felt the other room was too noisy. In relation to there being children cycling outside, I understand these were the children of another guest. While we pride ourselves on being a family (and dog) friendly enterprise, I will consider if we can update our guidance to address this specific issue. Abbey Cottages comprises four beautiful, stone-built, terraced properties, set in the shadow of a ruined 12th century abbey. Nestled among 23 acres of meadow and hedgerows, beside the shore of Upper Talley Lake, Abbey Cottages offers a tranquil base for friends or families to enjoy the beautiful Welsh countryside, with nearby access to the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park and the lively market town of Llandeilo. Outside, each cottage benefits from off-road parking and use of the enclosed communal garden. Barbecues are also available. Guests are free to roam the land surrounding the cottages, where you will find the intriguing ruins of Talley Abbey as well as access to the nature reserve lying between Upper and Lower Talley Lake; ideal for fishing, birdwatching or simply relaxing. For the more active-minded, a range of fantastic walking routes through Talley Woodlands lie on the doorstep and the award-winning cycling routes of the Black Mountains are close at hand. Built from the stones of the ruined abbey, after it was destroyed during the time of Henry VIII, the cottages themselves are equipped with an ample range of amenities, including children’s facilities such as highchairs, travel cots and stairgates, as well as a selection of games, providing characterful and homely accommodation for groups of all sizes.
