“Overall a nice pleasant stay, but not without a few niggles.”

The beds were very comfortable, however the lack of blinds for the roof (velux) windows meant sunlight streaming in during the early hours, we had to buy sleep masks! Sofa and chairs all comfortable and the whole place was generally clean to a good standard, apart from the velux windows which could do with a wash down. Kitchen area was well stocked for two peoplewith a lovely gas cooker. The shower was lovely and the toilet area clean, there was however a slight smell of mustiness, not ...

“Very nice secluded cottage, great garden for dogs, as it is enclosed, owners are very helpful, friendly and provide some useful information.”

I do however agree with comments from previous holiday makers, that there needs to be blinds on all of the rooflight windows, as sun is streaming in at four in morn with no way to shut out, also it increase heat in all rooms. That said we had a lovely holiday, and could relax, after coming back from beach. I would recommend this as a good place to stay.

“Lovely stay at the summerhouse, the summerhouse was easy to find and in a great location.”

We were greeted on arrival by the hosts, they even left us some treats ready for us which was a lovely surprise. We stayed for the weekend with our dogs, the garden was enclosed so nice to know they couldn’t get out. The summerhouse was spotless, and really pretty. We used the hot tub whilst we were there too and loved that. Thank you for a lovely stay!

“It was a lovely lodge but it needed a deep clean as it was not up to the usual standard of sykes cottages .”

The bathroom floor was dirty , the floor by the folding doors was all cracked and damaged where rain had came in and was just covered with a mat . All the door frames were dirty especially where hands had been ,the cushions on the sofa were dirty even had dirt marks left on them, the curtains had holes in them .Couldn’t open the bi folding doors as the trim on the bottom was broken which was a shame as we had lovely weather . The blind in the bedroom kept falling down when we tried to pull it down at night so just left it down all week . The skylight windows were dirty and had no blinds so was up at 5 every morning ( was nice to see the blue sky ) no good if you want a lie in . The patio was nice with the garden furniture but even that hadn’t been swept as there was a pile of leaves left behind the furniture didn’t try out the hot tub as the house wasn’t that clean we didn’t fancy it . The garden wall needed some work doing to it ( coat of paint) again just need some love . We came away for a nice quite break but the owners decide one night to sit out with friends and had music blasting out ( get enough of that at home )It was a shame really as I’m sure if they cleaned it better and repaired it and added a few more touches ( more loo rolls , tea towels or even had coffee ) we may have recommend it to friends but I’m afraid we won’t be and we won’t we return

“Lovely place to stay with lovely facilities in the property.”

The bedrooms are lovely and light and the kitchen is really well equipped. The property is ideally situated so you can go for walks and get to places very easily. The only slight downside is no matter what we did we could not get the hot tub to warm up, that said it didn't effect our stay at all and we would definitely come again and recommend to anyone.

“Property was nice and we had a lovely stay.”

Couple of things to note: Hot tub was woodfired. I spent over the period of 4 hours on each night trying heat up the hottub but it never did. I think the owner should have preheated really. Coffee machine did not appear to work Toilet radiator didn't appear to work so very cold in that room. Very grubby under sofa (I only looked as the dogs where trying to get a tennis ball that was left there). All in all lovely private stay, thankyou.

It was equipped with everything you wanted. A great location to visit Tenby, Saundersfoot. The owner Vernon and his wife Linda were very friendly and welcoming. Couldn’t ask for more. We loved it so much, we’re coming back for 2 weeks at Christmas.

Beautiful place for me and my husband and dogs. The prosecco and biscuits were a lovely surprise and both went down very well. So clean and well maintained . The garden was secure so great for the dogs as one can be an escape artist. All in all a wonderful place to stay would totally recommend.

It was cosy, clean and the enclosed garden was great for our dog. The beautiful garden furniture was a real treat. And the welcome bubbly and biscuits were really appreciated. Vernon and Linda were very friendly and welcoming and gave us great tips about where to visit. We never quite got the hang of the heating the hot tub but it didn’t detract from our stay.

“Many, many negative issues with this property: 1.”

Dirty, mouldy shower. 2. Stains on bedding. 3. Spiders in bed, total of 27 spiders in property over a week, some very large indeed. 4. Previous occupants smelling, rotting, mouldy food waste left in the kitchen. 5. Tepid shower. 6. Faecal matter caked and left in rim of toilet, very unhygienic and a health hazard. 7. Dirty skylights with no blinds. 8. Holes in curtains. 9. No toilet roll holder. 10. No wardrobe in room with two beds. 11. Exposed wiring in back of wardrobe in double room. 12. Multitude of cobwebs in every room corner. 13. Squashed bugs left to dry on walls and door frames. 14. Questionable stains like dried snot on wall next to bed. 15. Dog urine in door runner. 16. Leaking drainpipe right in front of main entrance which kept you awake when it was raining and causing cracked flooring which was hidden under doormat. 17. Smelly, dirty kitchen floor, had not been mopped or bleached. 18. Microwave in cupboard so you had to physically lift it out and place it somewhere to use it. 19. Dead flies and cobwebs over cookbooks next to cooker. 20. No terrestrial TV, just a box ominously balancing on top of TV. 21. Washing drawer full of mouldy washing remnants. 22. You have to pay £20 on top of your booking price to use the hot tub more than once. 23. Iron plate caked with dirt so unable to use. 24. Owners dog urinated on recycling and my vehicle every morning which was very unpleasant smelling. 25. Stains on cushions and settee. 26. Seals on bi-fold doors hanging off and crevices very dirty indeed, full of cobwebs, dirt & dead spiders. 27. Numerous beetles all over property floor. 28. Broken mirrored bin in bathroom, daughter nearly cut toe on it which could've caused a nasty injury. 29. Burn marks on dressing table (may be from hot iron which may the reason for issue number 23.). 30. No small bin liners in bins in bedroom and bathroom, very unhygienic, but I did bring my own black bags. This property certainly wasn't worth £2000 for a week. Complained to Sykes with supporting photos and videos which I shall publish online on every platform if no partial refund is given as requested, as property owner said his wife checked the property before we arrived and we couldn't check in earlier as the cleaner wouldn't be finished. One wonders exactly what the cleaner did do?? I didn't report the issues to the owner as it would've tainted my stay as I had booked the stay through Sykes and I believe they have a duty of care to the client to who books such expensive properties only to be harshly disappointed when they get there. I spent most of my holiday cleaning the property myself having bought numerous cleaning products in which to do so. Even my dog was immaculate and didn't leave a mess anywhere. We even cordoned off the verdant grass ourselves in order to keep it in a lovely condition. The property was left in a cleaner state than when we arrived. The owner even stated we were very clean and quiet and could stay again which makes this situation quite bittersweet. So very disappointed. This was the first holiday after losing my whole family in a short space of time. I was hoping for a clean, peaceful and relaxing stay but left very upset indeed which in turn exacerbated my depression instead of alleviating it.

The decor is very classy too! The hot tub was amazing, and the garden area is beautiful and very private. We would definitely stay there again, we love Tenby, the beaches are fantastic, and the people so friendly.

“The property is much closer to Lydstep than Penally and is over 3 miles from Tenby.”

Access to Tenby easy enough by car but walking not so much so. Parking is difficult in a SUV type vehicle as access very tight. On the positive side the garden is lovely with the outdoor/patio area very comfortable.

“Communication with the Vernon & Linda, the owners, was really very helpful, receiving good directions before our stay and during.”

They also recommended attractions, restaurants and and place to eat. The Chinese was lovely but I would recommend to order before going to pick it up as it was very busy with a 45 minute wait.. The house was well situated and peaceful and had lots of crockery, cutlery and kitchen equipment.

Took a bit of time learning how to prep the hot tub (3 hrs, adding a log every 30mins) and had a few issues with tv (only had streaming channels eg iplayer to start with, but after small remote switches on sky freesat, normal channels worked after owners contacted sky) Likewise, had a local area prob with internet, which owners responded to help with straight away! And apart from a small niggle about lack of bowls and cutlery for 4people (wouldn’t use dishwasher after every meal!) this really is a perfect little accommodation!

“Fabulous accommodation.”

Very comfortable. Well equipped. Only downside for us - staying with 2 collies - the garden is not secure. This meant we couldn’t let the dogs out unsupervised. Also meant we had a couple of visits from the owner’s dog, which didn’t go down well with our 2. A big part of our holiday experience is being able to let the dogs out to play, which unfortunately we couldn’t do as they could very easily escape the garden area.

“Very secluded holiday home in the grounds of the owners property.”

The house was well equipped although was smaller than the photos looked. The house needed a very good clean and dusting as there was numerous cobwebs with spiders and under the beds and sofa was very dirty. The hot tub was not that easy to operate and we had to light it up using wood supplied which was only sufficient for a couple of days usage. We had an issue with flies in the house which the owners resolved very quickly by installing pest control devices. If you have a dog there is limited places within walking distance to take them, but Tenby town centre is a short drive away which we enjoyed going too and there is some lovely beaches nearby. The owners were very helpful with any of our queries and recommended places to visit.

It felt smaller than the photos and was a little tight for us with two older children and lots of beach kit, but still comfortable. Could do with some more hanging space eg pegs outside for wetsuits, coat rack inside. Also something like a storage bench outside to save bringing sandy shoes into the property. But overall, it had everything we needed and we really enjoyed sitting outside for meals/relaxing in the pretty garden. Good location- only a short drive to Tenby and some fab beaches.

“Where do I start with Summer House?”

This property is amazing! Very modern with everything you need to make your stay comfortable. It’s in a great location with plenty to do in the surrounding areas, a week wasn’t long enough to do everything we wanted to. The property itself was super clean and fresh. I particularly liked the little touches such as cushions and throws on the sofa and night lights in the kitchen. There are some luxurious touches such as the dressing table and beautiful stool in the bedroom, plush bedding and the light up mirror in the bathroom. Super handy to have a washing machine, especially with us having our first holiday away with a newborn, it really did make our stay easier! The garden was lovely with a nice seating area and BBQ and of course, the hot tub. I just want to say how lovely and welcoming the owners Vernon and Linda are. We were greeted by a bottle of Prosecco and biscuits which was wonderful after a long journey. They were really helpful when we had any questions and also sent us a list of helpful information such as places to eat and visit. We really couldn’t have asked for more so thank you! Our week was brilliant and we were sad to be leaving! I would definitely recommend this property.

Lovely modern, fresh accommodation with great attention to detail. Enclosed garden suitable for dog to potter about and outdoor furniture and hot tub too! Quiet but secure location with parking which was important. Good location with easy drive to attractions like Heatherton aswell as Tenby, Saundersfoot and Amroth. Prosecco and sweet treats provided by hosts was a pleasant touch too! Would recommend to family and friends who want to visit this area. 10/10 thank you!

Well equipped, very cosy and quality of Wifi/Broadband was exceptional which was of paramount importance unfortunately as I had to work from there for 2 of the 4 days. Wanted to bring the feather duvet home with me, but couldn't fit it in the car! We received clear communications and helpful advice on places to visit throughout our stay from the property owners. The facilities in the property were very clean and of high quality with plenty of space and everything you could need. It is located in a beautiful quiet but very safe area with a farm shop and Penally beach close by. There was everything we needed and more to make our stay perfect with so much extra attention to detail such as the welcome tray and even biscuits for our pooch. “Summer House completely exceeded our expectations.”

The location was perfect to explore the Pembrokeshire coast. The accommodation was a great layout and very high quality. It is the most well equipped holiday cottage we have ever stayed in and the welcome pack was such a lovely surprise. We were lucky enough to have amazing weather and made full use of the luxurious garden furniture and BBQ in the privacy of the garden. The owners were amazing hosts, they gave us some great restaurant recommendations and were there if we needed them but also left us to enjoy our holiday. We would definitely book the Summer House again.

“WOW, where do I start, we have stayed at many cottages and hotels and Summer House exceeded our expectations.”

Firstly all the communication before we arrived was perfect, not to much ( some can over load you) all the directions were very clear for this hidden gem. On arrival we were welcomed by the most warm hearted hosts who greeted us with more luxuries that we could of asked for. Knowing that we had just got married the day before and should of been jetting to the Maldives they made our stay extra special. We entered the accommodation through a beautiful gate decorated with fresh flowers to start the experience, followed by the welcome of a stunning enclosed garden, to have our breaths taken away when the bifold doors opened to the most stunning lounge. We were then treated to flowers as a wedding gift along with champagne and chocolates ( we couldn’t of been more thought of) the rest of the accommodation was as expected stunning, all the little details as a woman you would dream of were in front of me, fresh flowers in the bedroom, beautiful candles to burn and little local treats scattered in the fridge and cupboards, not forgetting the freshly baked cakes! Our week was perfect, the bed was as comfortable as ours at home and the bedding was of the highest quality as were the towels. The outside area was comfortable to sit in the morning for breakfast as much as it was in the evening, the added bonus of an amazing hot tub perfected our stay. I couldn’t fault any part of our stay other than it was over way to quickly for us. The location was ideal to get to the beach, restaurants and a fun adventure area for all ages ( crazy golf, archery, shooting etc) we have already talked about this accommodation way to much to our friends and are worried that we won’t get booked in again due to it being so amazing, one friend said it looked like a Big Brother house and yes she was right. So thank you to the amazing hosts Vernon and Linda for an amazing start to our married life, one we will remember and it was so special to be your first guests especially on our honeymoon.
