“The cottage was in a great location.”

Was a bit cramped and kept banging our heads on the sloped ceiling. There was no broom to keep the place tidy and we had to buy one. Cleanliness of the property was poor such as dirty stained cups and toilet wasn't clean and toilet brush dirty and covered in hair. Bed was comfortable but the sheets didn't fit properly and kept sliding of the corners. The steps outside were very slippery when it rained. There was a big plant that we had to move aside to get past. The big armchairs were old, worn ...

The big armchairs were old, worn and not comfortable and and we could not cuddle up as a couple. It was confusing as to where the rubbish was disposed of and we had to take to a bin elsewhere.

We were very sad to hear your visit was so unsatisfactory, especially as you were already upset having just put down the dog that should have accompanied you. The restricted headroom is only on the mezzanine bedroom floor, and is clearly shown in the photographs advertising the property. Likewise the photographs show there are two large armchairs, not a settee, and they are aniline leather which marks easily - they came from our own suite and have had very little use. The property book left visible within the living area does have pages explaining everything one should need to know, including that rubbish disposal bins are provided beneath the sink. If previous visitors have needed more capacity they have talked to us and we showed them where the house dustbins are located at the side of The Studio, which you would have been welcome to use. We hadn’t previously provided a broom because we hadn’t anticipated our visitors needing to clean the floor, but it is a constructive comment and we now have one for future guests. My husbands did think he’d found one for you, but as you say you bought one maybe he’s mistaken. As to the dirty stained cups and toilet, the cups were not actually dirty but do have tanin stains from tea, we have brought them into the house to soak in kitchen bleach to remove these, which we hadn’t realised would be a problem. There is a stain in the bowl in the toilet (not dirt) because our water supply is natural mountain water which stains unlike mains water. We have private drainage and cannot use bleach without compromising the system. However we understand your distress and will remedy this problem somehow. Finally, we do not understand that you had to move a plant out of your way, they have never caused a problem in the past and we can only assume you possibly walked to the side of the property where we have just created a patio. This is not a suggested route, although we have now finished landscaping and future visitors will have clear access to this side patio and a new door to access it from the living area. We are sorry you found the steps a concern, unfortunately your visit occurred at a time when leaves are falling constantly, and on this occasion it also rained frequently, we did sweep the steps during your stay but the conditions were not easy. We hope we have addressed all your concerns, we appreciate your constructive comments and have taken steps to ensure future visitors benefit from them. Property Owner
