Situated near the village of Llanelltyd, just north of Dolgellau in Gwynedd are the remains of Cymer Abbey.
A Cistercian Abbey founded in around 1158 and dissolved around 1536 – apparently it was never a very prosperous Abbey.
The Abbey sits on the bank of the Mawddach River and is surrounded by quite beautiful wooded countryside, but is encompased by a static caravan site.
