Located in the rural village of Four Crosses, surrounded by countryside for avid walkers, is this semi-detached holiday home, 1 Sarwen Cottages.

Leave your vehicle in the off-road parking space, making unloading an easy task.

Step inside to discover the kitchen/diner, with well-equipped, light grey cupboards and an oven and hob to rustle up tasty meals.

There is also a washing machine and dishwasher to assist with the cleaning-up, so you don't need to worry about making a mess.

Gather around the dining table to enjoy hearty meals together as you catch up on the highlights of the holiday.

Carry your conversation outdoors into the patio, where you can unwind on the furniture and your canine companions can stretch their legs.

Back inside, find the sitting room, decorated in blue, grey and white, where you can rest on the sofa and flicker though the TV, as the woodburning stove provides warmth.

Climb upstairs to the first floor to the family bathroom, where you can enjoy a soak in the tub or rinse off in the overhead shower.

There are two bedrooms, a single bedroom and a king-size, both offering storage to house your personal belongings.

In the morning, get better acquainted with your surroundings and head to Offa's Dyke Path, a 177-mile walking trail for a scenic hike and afterwards you can reward your efforts at the local pub, The Punch Bowl Tavern.

A short drive will lead you to the market town of Welshpool, lined with Georgian buildings, where you can tour the remains of the 17th century Powis Castle and uncover the past of the town at the exhibitions in The Wharf Powysland Museum.

Further afield is the historic town of Oswestry, here you can marvel at decorative metalwork at The British Ironwork Centre, which features a gorilla made up of donated spoons, as well as visit Cae Glas Park for colourful flowers.

Settled by the River Severn is the county town of Shrewsbury, home to an 11th century Castle, a museum and art gallery and Shrewsbury prison for a unique guided tour around a Victorian-styled prison.

FOUR CROSSES

Welshpool 7 miles; Oswestry 8 miles.

The small rural village of Four Crosses is set in the delightful border countryside of Wales and England, just 7 miles from Welshpool and 8 miles from Oswestry. Four Crosses offers a pub, village shop and numerous walks including the wonderful Offa’s Dyke Path. There is so much to see and do in the area including the market town of Oswestry with its independent shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants, Lake Vyrnwy, Pistyll Rhaeadr - the highest waterfall in Wales, the Montgomery Canal and Powys and Chirk Castles. The town of Shrewsbury and the Ironbridge Gorge are just a little further afield. while Chester, Wrexham and Bala are all easily accessible by car. Altogether this is a lovely, peaceful location for enjoying all that England and Wales have to offer.
