“On arrival, we felt extremely disappointed in the cleanliness of the property, in particular the shower cubicle which in our view was unacceptable with wet black mould around the shower tray and shower hose, with no response from the owner to our concerns raised even though we immediately sent photos.”

There was what appeared to be old food residue around the cooker edges. We felt the bedroom smelt damp as the window couldn’t be opened and there was insufficient ventilation in the en-suite. We loved Cardigan and hope to return but definitely not to this property.

We were very sorry to discover your disappointment with the apartment. Had we been made aware of your disappointment at the time we would have rectified any issues raised. The Apartment is within a grade 2 listed building and its windows open by simply pulling down the top sash windows instead of pulling up. Since your stay back in 2021 our many happy customers have enjoyed the brand new facilities at the apartment to include new shower enclosure, brand new appliances, smart tv's etc etc. Property Owner

The property

Custom House Apartment is a great opportunity to stay in a central location in the heart of Cardigan town, West Wales.

The apartment is tucked above the thriving town in the tranquility of this beautiful Grade II listed building, formerly Cardigan's Customs House built in 1836, when Cardigan had it's hey day as a large sea port.

The apartment is packed with original features and quirky décor.

Custom House Shop and gallery on the ground floor has been trading for almost 30 years and the Custom House Apartment runs across the entire first floor of this beautiful historic building.

You enter the property via a staircase into a spacious living/dining area, boasting arched floor to ceiling windows, overlooking the roof tops and brightly coloured buildings to the hills beyond.

Cuddle up by the television as you enjoy a DVD night on the Flatscreen TV or simply wind down with some peaceful music on the CD Player and a glass of wine in hand, after a delicious home-cooked meal together at the dining table.

End the evening out on the balcony, admiring the historic views of the 12th century Cardigan Castle.

Moving through the property, there is a fully-fitted kitchen, where you can prepare a delightful picnic to take to the beach, as well as a handy washing machine to wash any sandy clothes, and after a long day exploring, you can escape to the double bedroom and watch some television as you rest and rejuvenate, or look out onto the views of the brightly coloured buildings and the hills beyond.

Start each new day by freshening up in the en-suite shower room, before savouring a morning coffee on the balcony, enjoying the tranquil courtyard and castle ground views.

Customs House is just a stone's throw away from the ruins of the impressive castle, as well as all the hustle and bustle of Cardigan, with all the amenities you will need, such as shops to grab any essentials or bars and eateries to enjoy an evening out.
