“When we arrived we were met y Mandy the owner, it was pointed out to us that the booking had slipped through the net as they wanted to book out our cottage to continue with restoration work.”

This did not make us feel especially wanted. We suffered from a problem with the downstairs toilet which continued to flush until we took the lid of and fiddled with it. The bath water was never warm enough for a bath even after 3 times of trying. This did not make us feel especially wanted. We suffered from a problem with the downstairs toilet which continued to flush until we took the lid of and fiddled with it. The bath water was never warm enough for a bath even after 3 times of trying. Then the heating went off, when we asked for it to be turned on again, and be aware the radiators were stone cold when we ask the male owner appeared and said the heating was on 24/7 strangely enough as he arrived the radiators started to warm (luke warm) up, strange that. He insisted the heating did not go off. However after that there was never a problem, strange again. The heating and water were controlled centrally from am app on his phone and this is the first time ever we have not had control of said heating personally. His excuse was that so many visitors believed they had the right to turn heating on and leave it on umm what am I paying my rental fee for. The weather was dismal and cold and we had to sit in a cold house after getting very damp walking our dog. So his bad experience meant we suffered. Now to the point that when we mentioned the toilet problem and the inability to run a hot bath he told us, "The water was on demand but would never cope with filling a bath, oh and yes those are things we know about and are getting fixed in the refit" it would have been useful to know that beforehand rather than suffer the frustration of having to repeatedly try.

Llandeilo 3.9 miles.

Gwennol Cottage is one of three beautifully converted barns, with the owners living nearby, at Golden Grove in the Carmarthenshire countryside.

It enjoys an idyllic and peaceful location on a hillside, with stunning views over the valley and countryside beyond.

This is a rare find for groups of families, friends, avid ramblers, beachcombers and those alike, to call home, as they enjoy this glorious part of Wales, with both coast and countryside awaiting to be enjoyed.

Enter into the dwelling and discover the sitting room, where the characterful stone-built wall is a striking element to this room, as is the plush seating arrangement and enhanced view of the countryside through the new glass fronted extension.

From here, find the fully-equipped kitchen, as well as a formal dining table where you can delight in your home-cooked dishes with your loved ones around you.

As the evening draws to a close, discover a superb double bedroom on the ground floor, boasting a super-king-size bed and en-suite shower room, whilst on the first floor there is second bedroom with zip'n'link twin beds (or request for king size), with its own en-suite shower room.

During the balmy evenings, look forward to lighting up the barbecue and enjoying a spot of alfresco dining on the patio, or take the time to a enjoy a fabulous woodland walk from the front door and soak in the hot tub on your return.

Whilst the town of Llandeilo, set in the heart of the Towy Valley, has a larger selection of amenities including individual shops, galleries, pubs, delicatessens and eateries.

Promising wonderful days out for the whole family is the National Botanic Garden of Wales and Aberglasney, a garden lost in time, both of which are just a moment away from the cottage, whilst the bustling town of Carmarthen is slightly further afield but is well-worth a look around.

Outdoor activities are in abundance here, too, with a network of mountain bike trails within the Brechfa Forest to explore and fishing on the River Towy, great for salmon and sewin.

Avid ramblers can enjoy the array of woodland walks in the area, where you can catch glimpses of red kites, owls, badgers and deer, as well as the more challenging treks on the Black Mountain and the Brecon Beacons National Park.

Beach seekers can take a scenic drive to the Gower Peninsula, home to a collection of wonderful beaches with great surfing opportunities on the Three Cliffs Bay and Rhossili Bay; there is certainly something for everyone here.
