A relaxing property to stay in. Angela who hosted us initially was very helpful and friendly and then the owners returned who were very nice and the whole experience was great. Perfect for walking sections of the Offas Dyke path and visiting Castles!

If you're looking for a relaxing holiday, then come and enjoy this charming, semi-detached cottage resting on a farm in Penhros near Monmouth, Monmouthshire.

An ideal base for a family of four's rural getaway, the cottage enjoys views of the Black Mountains and Sugar Loaf.

The off-road parking space makes it easy to get your holiday off to a stress-free start, so you can quickly get unpacked and explore the sights!

Venture inside to be welcomed by a living/dining room, where you can grab a book from the offering available and curl up with a book on the armchairs or even take advantage of the separate reading area for some peace and quiet; the space also offers a charming dining table, where all the family can tuck into a delicious meal.

These tasty meals can be prepared in the kitchen, a space hosting white units as well as a great selection of integrated appliances.

After enjoying dinner, settle down in the sitting room, an exquisitely furnished spot which boasts ample seating for you to unwind on as you watch a show on the Smart TV and warm your toes by the gas fire.

At the end of the day, throw any old clothing into the utility's washing machine and tumble dryer as well as another shower room, before heading upstairs to find two welcoming bedrooms, the first being a double bed enjoying fitted storage and an en-suite bathroom, and the other being a lovely twin room with large Velux windows and an en-suite bathroom.

In the morning, head out to the front lawn with a cup of steaming coffee, where you can soak up those sights of the mountains and the idyllic pond.

Be sure to embark on a hike along Offa's Dyke Park, which runs through the park and offers a gorgeous trek through the delightful scenery of Monmouthshire.

Spend some time in Monmouth, a quirky town hosting the once glorious ruins of Monmouth Castle, access to The Rolls of Monmouth Golf Club which is just outside of Monmouth itself, as well as The National Trust property of The Kymin. If you're feeling adventurous, venture down one of the winding trails or up the peaks within the Wye Valley AONB, or head to the Forest of Dean, where the wonders of Clearwell Caves, Dean Forest Railway and the Forest of Dean Sculpture Trail await.

Why not pay Ross-on-Wye a visit, a market town hosting the River Walk, the stunning Thomas Blake Memorial Garden, along with access to the South Herefordshire Golf Club.

About the location

MONMOUTH

Ross-on-Wye 10 miles; Usk, 14.5 miles; Abergavenny 18.5 miles.

An intriguing market town on the border between Wales and England and close to the exceptional Offa’s Dyke, this wonderful town combines old and new, from the old castle ruins to the vibrant weekly market. Located at the confluence of 3 rivers – the Wye, the Monnow and the Trothy, it is an excellent base to enjoy river boating, scenic walks and a little shopping too, or to sit and relax on the edge of the river and watch the rowers who regularly race and practise their skills. Monmouth is most famous as the birthplace of Henry V and offers the opportunity to see historic buildings, the preserved medieval 13th century bridge over the river Monnow (the only one of its kind in Britain) and the famous Nelson Garden. This is truly a small town with a huge array of interesting sights to visit. The surrounding areas are steeped in history too and short drives will take you to nearby Usk, Abergavenny, Ross-on-Wye and even into the spectacular Brecon Beacons, Forest of Dean and Wye Valley. A perfect location with so much to see for all ages.
