“HOUSE OVERALL Lovely house, very comfy and cosy.”

The nights were cold but the cottage was warm with plenty of hot water. Great base for getting out and about and exploring the wonderful coastline. We loved the extra touches like the shoe box, lead hooks and welcome box. The downstairs shower was super. The whole house would have been perfect if it weren't for the lack of cleanliness, TV and washing machine issues as per my comments. HOOVER Hoover smelled nasty when using and left a lingering smell throughout the house. No replacement bags and we shouldn't have to buy them. The floors in the kitchen and sitting room were swept as a result which, when sweeping under the furniture, a whole load of dust, fluff and children's drawings came out. SHOWER IN BATHROOM Shower door swung open so bathroom floor became very wet. We abandoned showering upstairs and used the downstairs en-suite instead, DOWNSTAIRS LOO This had to be thoroughly cleaned as there were 'deposits' on the under side of the toilet seat which came off when washed properly. Seat also loose but wasn't prepared to crawl around on floor to tighten. TV Never discovered Sky as mentioned on the cottage web page, only a Freesat box and the signal dropped frequently which made watching impossible. Not being a Smart TV meant that we couldn't login into our own Netflix etc accounts so we were stuck with watching the limited DVDs that belonged to the cottage, even on Christmas Day! BINS We were unsure what to do with waste food as there were no food bags available in the cottage and the green caddy in the garage contained glass (presumably from previous occupants) so not knowing what else to do we also put glass in the green caddy; no other caddy was available. No 'bin' for bagged dog poo could be found so, as per the Council website, this was placed into a black household waste bin bag (we had to purchase extra bags). DOUBLE DUVET COVER The duvet cover was badly stained when the duvet was thrown back (yes I'm one of those who checks bedding and make no apologies for that). So this was hurriedly stripped off and put through a wash before using. Which created another issue, this time with the washing machine. WASHING MACHINE The machine stopped before finished with an F02 error. on Googling this there were several suggestions, mostly connected with a blockage and unable to drain. So the duvet cover was stuck inside. Eventually I turned it off and set dial to rinse and off it went again. Once the cycle had finished the washing was still soaking wet so I set the dial to spin. This was to no avail as the duvet cover was still dripping wet and had to be hung over the clothes airer in the downstairs shower cubicle so it could drip. Once the washing was out of the machine I noticed water still in the base of the drum, so I set the dial to drain, which it didn't so the machine was unusable for the remainder of our stay. Absolutely ridiculous. To summarise, this was supposed to be a well-earned Christmas break away for my husband and myself which was spoilt by things that could have so easily been avoided. We were dreadfully disappointed and, quite honestly, glad to get home.
