    “Chronic damp in en-suite bedroom.”

Owners attempting to mask with diffuser. When one opens the wardrobe, it is overpowering. Very poor quality mattresses which belong at the tip. Twin beds are for children - not adults. Settee offered nil support when used. Heating system highly controlled with FIVE time settings which made tenants constantly have to override to achieve any warmth. Fourteen degrees at night? Why do owners think they can spend money on prettifying a property (lovely bathrooms) and then neglect the ...

Why do owners think they can spend money on prettifying a property (lovely bathrooms) and then neglect the basics? Sykes property guidelines for potential owners specifically states there should be ‘ no hint of damp’ and comfortable mattresses. We had to leave after three nights as unhealthy and uncomfortable. It isn’t our job to carry out property inspections and we weren’t prepared to have confrontation with owners over matters that cannot be rectified. The owner denies the property has a damp problem - really? Heating needs to be around 18-22 continuously to deal with damp. £700 for a week in October ? We completed our trip to the Gower in a lovely modern warm caravan……

Whilst everyone is entitled to their opinion we would refer you to multiple previous reviews which we feel speak for themselves. It is a great pity that this guest has chosen to hide behind an email review. Being owners who live on site, and had personally welcomed the guest on arrival, it would have been simple to view the issues which does not need to be confrontational dependant on the manner in which they are raised. Guests have full control over the heating temperature via the thermostat control, all as detailed within a comprehensive information booklet. Air fresheners are a common household item, used in many homes across the country. We note the comments regarding the single bed mattresses and these have now been renewed. It. Is also extremely disappointing that this guest chose to depart, leaving the property unlocked overnight without any contact with the owners or Sykes cottages. ( not even a text message or email !!!). We are therefore unable to accept the majority of the issues raised and trust previous reviews reflect a more accurate picture of this property. The Cottages At Scurlage Court Farm

A pair of cottages, both looking out across the old farmyard adjacent to the owners` property, offering cosy accommodation. These traditional properties are just a short walk from the heart of the village of Scurlage and just a short distance from the beautiful award-winning beaches of Rhossili. This quaint pair of holiday cottages have been furnished with individual styles with comfort in mind. Well-equipped kitchens, comfy seating and dining areas provide cosy living, perfect to relax in front of the TV after a day enjoying the nearby award-winning beaches. Both cottages benefit from patio/garden areas to enable you to sit and enjoy an alfresco breakfast before heading off to explore the fabulous coastal areas. These Gower cottages benefit from being easily accessible to the coastline with award-winning beaches, fantastic coastal paths, craggy coves and the impressive Worms Head that Rhossili is famous for. The area is ideal for surfing and hang gliding, both of which are very popular within this part of Wales, as is cycling which can also be enjoyed. There are five golf courses within a 10-mile drive of the cottages each providing a different challenge, all with breath-taking views. Slightly further inland is a completely different beauty, pretty little villages sited around village greens such as Reynoldston which has direct access onto Cefn Bryn, considered to be the Back Bone of the Gower with panoramic views and one of the highest view points in the area, offering fantastic walks and a chance to sit a while and watch wild ponies, sheep and cows grazing. A perfect pair of cottages, ideal for either a couple, family or small group looking for a central base, from which to explore the breath-taking beauty of the Gower Peninsula and the South Wales coastline.

About the location

SCURLAGE

Swansea 14 miles; Rhossili 3.5 miles; Port Eynon 1.5 miles.

Scurlage is a small village, named after the family who built a fortified manor house, although none of the remains of ‘Scurlage Castle’ have survived. This little village is between the popular beachside villages of Rhossili and Port Eynon and is close to the fantastic beaches of the Gower Peninsula including Oxwich Bay. A perfect central location to be a short distance from fantastic coastline and the iconic Worms Head. The little village has various footpaths crisscrossing the area, shop, pharmacy, doctors surgery and take-away, but still retains its sleepy village personality.
