Places to Visit During Your Spring Break in Wales
Mid Wales is a fabulous place to begin any Welsh adventure! Speckled with farms and home to miles and miles of awe-inspiring coastline, you can discover the popular towns and villages of Aberystwyth, Borth, Cardigan, Aberaeron, and New Quay. One of our particular favourites is the idyllic Cardigan Bay, where if you’re lucky, you may be able to catch a glimpse of the dolphins and porpoises which frequent the bay!
Within Mid Wales, you will find the rural counties of Ceredigion and Powys. Adventure seekers will not want to miss out on a visit to Powys, where they can easily access the incomparable landscape of the Brecon Beacons National Park and the famous Offas Dyke Footpath. Whilst those seeking something more leisurely can enjoy the delights of Ceredigion, well-known for its colourful seaside towns and villages, including Llangrannog and Gwbert.
Next stop is Carmarthenshire, the oldest town in West Wales and supposed former home of the wizard, Merlin. Spend a day in Burry Port, where you can relax on the beach, take in the views from Burry Port Lighthouse, or test out your clubs at the Ashburnham Golf Club. Pembrey rests nearby and is home to a large country park where you can take to the slopes at the Pembrey Ski and Activity Centre. Continue along the coast to Llanelli, where you can wander through the wildlife rich WWT Llanelli Wetland Centre, tour the Parc Howard Museum, or dine with a sea view at St. Elli’s Bay.
Your stay in West Wales wouldn’t be the same without a visit to the highly regarded county of Pembrokeshire. Well-known for its iconic 186-mile coastal path, having over 50 beaches, and being home to Britain’s smallest city, it is not to be missed! Spend a day in Tenby, where you can visit the remarkable Tenby Castle, tuck-in to fresh seafood, beachcombe the shores of Tenby Beach, or take a trip out to St Catherine’s Island to see the historic fort.
